All people who work here really make you feel like being with friends, all of them have a great manner and such a good vibe with its visitors. I want to say thank you to Gerald, Fernando, Kenya, Rosita, Miguel, Mauriel, Johanna, Alicia, Jaret and all the staff. All rooms have such a great view, they provide shampoo and body gel, beds are pretty comfortable, breakfast is delicious and satisfying and the swimming pool is the best with that view. Thank you guys for all your excellent attention 🙂 read less

Nevertheless, we asked the management whether we could enjoy a drink at the pool. They were happy to have us and gave us towels and offered us a swim as well. The view is stunning, and the people are friendly. We had a naked swim at sunset, and really enjoyed ourselves. We actually came back the next day and enjoyed cocktails in the hot tub, also naked, and also with a spectacular view of the sunset.
I'm not sure if Villa Roca does much advertizing their pool at happy hour to non-hotel guests, but they should. read less

I arrived fairly late and exhausted from the journey and Gerald came out to greet me with the keys n ordered me a pizza as I hadn't eaten all day. All the staff were fantastic from the front desk helping with tour booking and PCR test booking, to the breakfast and bar staff, cleaning staff and grounds keeping all friendly and courteous all week. (Would be great if there was lunch/snacks during the day!...and maybe have bar close a bit later than 9pm. The pool/hot tub and view from it were amazing. Breakfast was great and generous each morning, with sometimes monkeys looking on from bushes and rooftops. Room was very clean with controllable A/C. Afternoon happy hour was busy somedays and quieter on others as people come and go with day pass. Met many other great travelers and had fun. Area has a number of food places and felt safe. Beach within walking distance or by bus. Hope to come back soon. read less

The bartender is very friendly and always keeping the drinks flowing. I definitely recommend staying here! read less

Was in CR for a (straight) wedding but wanted to stay somewhere different than my group and very glad I did. I had an absolute wonderful time at Villa Roca.
Room was great, food and drinks were delicious, pool/spa was fun, and staff were very accommodating to help with taxi/tour/massage bookings.
Everyone from reception, bar tenders, breakfast service, and housekeeping were very friendly. It was also fun to skinny dip in the pool and meet other LGBTQ+ guests who created a welcoming, fun and accepting atmosphere.
I thought the price was reasonable - especially since it included an actual made-to-order breakfast each morning. On the property I saw monkeys, toucans, iguanas, parrots, frogs, and more.
My one and only issue was the wifi was a bit spotty in my room (it worked everywhere else) but it didnt matter to me. I was not in Costa Rica for work and spent most of my time out of my room.
Definitely recommend this hotel for gay visitors and can’t wait to come back. read less

They... read moreOf all the wonderful things I can say about Villa Roca, I have to begin with the staff. They are so nice and always happy to help with anything from fresh towels to arranging excursions and even COVID testing. We saw more monkeys at the resort than we did in the National Park. This is my fourth time at Villa Roca and many improvements have been made since my last. The resort is under new management and so much progress has been made toward modernizing and enhancing this already very special place. When traveling here from the United States, the US government requires a negative COVID test within three days of returning to the US. The test cost $70 and the resort will arrange to have medical staff come to the property to complete the test. Results are emailed to you within 24 hours and you can forward the resorts to your airline. It’s a very simple process. I hope everyone enjoys your trip here as much as we did. We found it to be a great alternative to Puerto Vallarta. read less

The views from the rooms and especially from the infinity pool overlooking the rain forest and the ocean are spectacular.
Breakfast is served by the pool, and guests get to chose 3 items from a nice little menu - so yummy and fresh!
Hot tubs are deliciously warm and bubbly, and while one is overlooking the ocean, 2 of them are "hidden" in the Enchanted Forest - a great place to meet other guests and make new friends 🙂
We heard from other guests that the hotel is usually VERY lit especially on weekends, but it's currently not very busy due to COVID.
The new owner introduced himself to us, and he seems interested in fixing and upgrading various things around the property, including the flaky Wi-Fi (they were working on getting the routers replaced whiles we stayed there).
We cannot wait to visit Villa Roca again! More read less

The views from almost everywhere on the property are spectacular! The grounds are mostly well kept and clean. The pool is outstanding. The staff and manager are can be found here everyday, ensuring that the water is maintained properly.
The staff are really what make Villa Roca a great place to stay. Mau, the bartender is an absolute sweetheart, and Irene, the breakfast server is a joy to wake up to every morning. Also of note, a new young lady started on February 26th - to cover Mau's day off at the bar and Irene's day off for breakfast. She worked her first day on one of the busiest happy hours at the pool that we saw in two weeks, and did a great job. We were more than impressed by her!
We stayed in Room 5b - a stand alone unit, built a few years ago. As it is newer, it was fairly modern and updated. The bed, however, advertised as a Queen, was really more of a Double. The cleaning staff did a great job.
The location of Villa Roca is perfect for walking to and from restuarants and bars in the area or to the beach. Should you wish to take a bus instead, to the beach or to Quepos, the stops are close to the hotel.
We would definately stay at Villa Roca again - we met so many wonderful people from all over. Its not a luxury 5 star hotel by any means, but it certainly provided comfort and friendliness for the out two week stay!
Cheers! read less

Go and stay at Hotel Villa Roca. The staff goes out of their way to make sure you are made to feel like family and to make sure your every need is met. Once I checked in I was always called by name, Mauriel (the bartender) never had to ask what room I was in or what my name was, the young ladies who took care of my room added their special touch to make the room feel comfortable and welcoming each day and Gerald and Jose were always seen around the property overseeing the day to day operation and making sure everything was perfect for their guests. The view from my room was spectacular (just as advertised on their website). Breakfast each morning was made to order and served by the 2 sweetest ladies ever. I had a spectacular time while staying at Hotel Villa Roca and will stay again. If you are looking for a well kept beautiful property, a very reasonable nightly rate, a caring staff and overall a very comfortable and relaxing environment then Hotel Villa Roca is the place for you. I checked out today after an 8 night stay and thoroughly enjoyed it as I did when I was here a year and a half ago. Can’t beat the views. Workers care about the guests. Free breakfast served by pleasant Irene. Decent priced drinks brought to you poolside by Maurice. Door handle fixed by handy Gary. Excursions and restaurant advice and extra requests by Gerald and Jose. Room cleaned daily. Pool water cleared after it murked up. Thank you everyone at Villa Roca for making our stay so wonderful. Oh, one negative thing: hot tub was not heated after first night. I forgot to ask why. read less

The pool and bar has an ocean view with a full menu breakfast included, and a friendly bartender. Also the front office staff Jose' and especially Gerald go the the extra mile to help explain and set up the best tours in the area and they are there for your needs! The room #5 had a great ocean view with balcony, but however I wish the lighting in bathroom could allow to see yourself shaving...ouch! Plus there should be a table in the room to place your luggage. Also the TV should have more English channels that are not only FOX news, poor choice. All in all I recommend this Hotel and will look forward to a return trip! read less
